Sculpture
Sculpture is another textural medium I enjoy. I make small, detailed sculptures of “little people” using wire, fabric and a special medium which sets the fabric hard and creates a piece which is fully waterproof, whilst retaining the wonderful textures and drape of the fabric. The pieces are then finished to give them a “rustic” look.
The little people in my sculptures take on a life of their own - they have their own character, story and personality, which sometimes includes "attitude". I like to think of them as expressions of our playful “inner child”.
These sculptures are generally smallish - between 25cm - 50cm tall in total. They are freestanding and usually include natural objects as their base, such a interesting stones or pieces of timber. Again, as with all my work, each piece is unique and will not be repeated.
